Dutch Boyd is getting jacked by PokerHost.com

Where's my crew?

Where's my crew?

I’ll be damned, the genius/crazy motherfucker Dutch Boyd is now in the domain name business. Much like the black cloud that’s followed him around since the old Pokerspot cluster-fck, he’s now running into issues with an online poker site called Poker Host. The complaint from Poker Host stems from the purchase of the name pokerhost.net, which is owned by Dutch. From here the story gets pretty deep as evidenced by the near book length rant by Dutch on the now “gripe site” www.pokerhost.net

Apparently the owners of Poker Host want to use the .net name the same way that Poker Stars, Full Tilt Poker, and a host of other online poker sites are using them – to host “free” poker schools in order to rope in new players. This move was prompted several years ago after the passing of the UIGEA in the US which now blocks advertising for any real money poker site. Those smarties at the online poker rooms simply took their .net names and turned them into play money sites, hoping that the players will soon move to real money games.

So now Poker Host wants to do the same thing and Dutch says that’s fine so long as they PURCHASE the name back from him. While he did buy the domain long after PokerHost.com was established, he says that it’s a generic name and not a trademark so they can’t just take it from him. Unfortunately for Dutch, the legal firm representing Poker Host says that it’s indeed an infringement on their Intellectual Property rights and that Dutch should have to turn the domain over 100% for free.

We figure since Dutch hasn’t cashed in quite a while (for any real amount of money) and he’s trying to launch this JackNames.com site he’d like to sell the domain for a few hundred G’s and set sail back off into the desert or wherever he goes after he has a meltdown. This story is still developing so stay tuned for any updates as they happen.
