Last year amateur player Mike Vela bested the field of nearly 600 players in the main event to take home a staggering $1.7 million dollars. Bernard Lee, Paul Lieu and David Fox were some of the other winners from the preliminary events last year. This years tournament will no doubt draw some of the biggest names in poker as they look to get a piece of what most undoubtedly will be a huge prize pool.
Coinciding with the WPT event is a slot machine tournament for old people (aka Club Members). Nothing to do with poker, it’s just easy to make fun of old people.
