Largest online poker pot record broke four times this Sunday

October 28, 2008 by TG

The online poker record was set and broken four times this weekend. The “old” record was held by patitino and trex313 when a mere pair of 2’s with a Queen kicker took down the $610,000.00 pot. That record was beat this past Sunday when durrrr and LarsLuzak tied up at Full Tilt Poker with a short-lived record pot of $617,968.00. Within a very short timeframe, that record would fall when durrr and John Juanda went at it with durrrr holding pocket Aces against the pocket Kings of Juanda. A King spiked on the river to give Juanda the $678,069.00 pot.

Not to be outdone, Phil Ivey and John Juanda would play another monster pot. This time it was Ivey with a flopped set of 10’s to Juanda’s flush draw. The money got in on the flop and no flush arrived to save Juanda from losing the massive $687,622.00 pot to Ivey.

Finally, just nine hours after the last record hand dropped, durrrr and Urindanger tangled. Again, it was a battle of pocket Kings (durrrr) versus pocket Aces for Urindanger. No miracle cards arrived and Urindanger took down the pot for a whopping $723,938.00.

I don’t think anyone would be surprised at this point to see online poker’s first million dollar pot before the end of 2008. With the stacks that some of these players have had (several have topped one million dollars) there’s little question as to WHEN as opposed to IF the first million dollar pot will go down. The only question is who will be the big winner? Our money is on durrrr as he’s had an uncanny ability to find himself in the middle of these insane pots.
