Ultimate Bet refunds some players from cheating scandal – screws others
The refunds from the Ultimate Bet cheating scandal have begun trickling down to the poker players who were caught in the middle of things. The interesting twist to the story (twist, get it?) is that some players who claim to have NEVER played against the superuser accounts are getting small refunds as well. Astute readers may quickly surmise that perhaps there were more superuser accounts than originally disclosed. Let that roll around your noggin for a few….
On top of that, there is a large disparity in the amount that some players are being refunded versus others. Some players who have never even hit the high limit tables where most of the shenanigans took place are getting refunds in the hundreds of dollars. Others who felt that they were clearly cheated and did play against Russ and other superuser accounts are getting back insulting amounts. So essentially the whole refund effort is going about as smoothly as the investigation into the whole scandal to start with. The short version – it’s a cluster fuck.
On the flip side, some high rollers are getting PAID lotto type cash. Taylor Cabby got a whopping 191K from the UB ATM. Josh Arieh told players at Foxwoods today that he got 200K. Many others have reported refunds of 20K, 30K, and up.
So if you’ve ever donked any cash at UB, go check your account to see if there’s a gift from the UB ATM. If so, a good next move may to be move it somewhere safe like your wallet or better yet, a nifty site like Cake Poker.
